Commonoddity

Constructed from segments of the local property guide and discarded tea towels, Commonoddity is a reflection on the property boom that has transpired over the last two decades in Australia and how it has altered our ideal of “home”. Using a combination of collage and quilting techniques, each piece encourages the viewer to consider the juxtaposition of the traditional comforts associated with a Western concept of “home” and a growing societal focus on its utility as a means of financial investment and wealth creation; to what (if any) greater cost to society?
